Having a content rich website means a few different things. The no-brainer meaning – a website that is rich with content. However, in terms of SEO best practices, there’s a little more to it. There are strategies in creating and developing rich content that can have notable SEO benefits for your site.
To produce a content rich website to get these SEO benefits, we implement three best practices into our creation and development. Check them out below!
1. Keyword-Based Content
Whenever we’re creating content for us or a client of ours, we refer to the thematic keyword research that we’ve done to figure out what keywords and pages to target and which keyword to use for anchor text linking.
When mapping out the content to create for a site, it’s important to target secondary keywords instead of primary keywords. Primary keywords should be left to the page they correspond with, while secondary should be used in the content and as anchor text for hyperlinks. This ensures that the page with the new content doesn’t rank for the same keyword that a core page is trying to rank authoritatively for.
In addition, creating keyword-focused content helps when developing what the content being created should be about and what information that customers and site visitors will find valuable. It sounds unconventional, but providing content that will actually benefit the audience reading it, instead of just publishing meaningless, fluff content, is another SEO best practice for creating a content rich website.
2. Valuable, No-Bull$h*+ Content
Creating content with value makes a helluva difference, but first, it’s important to do a little research to determine what your content should be about. To do this, we recommend looking through competitor’s sites and locating themes and topics that are relevant to your services, and then creating content that is better than theirs. In addition, use a tool like Semrush to look into the keywords on your site that are generating the most traffic. Doing so is a great way of seeing what your following actually cares about, and what kind of information could be a proponent in bringing them back to your site.
We’re a fan of creating valuable content because it’s a way we can treat people as people, not profit. There’s enough annoying marketing done to add anymore into the world. Create valuable content that actually benefits those who visit your site!
3. SEO Optimized Content
Last but not least, the optimization of the content you’ve created. Optimizing your content for proper keyword and anchor text usage, internal linking, linking to authority sites, and content length are key on page SEO optimization practices that are necessary for reaping the full benefits of a content rich website.
Internally link throughout your website using anchor texts that will help build authority for the linked pages as well as assisting site visitors to more beneficial content they’ll find when clicking through to the linked page.
Use the targeted keyword and thematic keywords as well in the content. This signals to Google that the page and site is authoritative over those thematic keywords used. To further bump up the authority of the page and content, link the content to an authority site of the industry or the topic that the content is about.
These best practices may seem small, but in the scheme of your SEO efforts and search engine rankings, developing a content rich website is an effective SEO habit to implement into any SEO campaign.
